Summer route by beaches of the Algarve and the Alentejo (Portugal)
This route is to be a few days, and especially on summer dates.
First stage.-
Departure and lunch in Tavira, and in the afternoon O Barril Beach, with overnight in Santa Luzia, walk and tapas and a bar in the area. ALGARVE
Second stage.-
Destination Playa Marihna in Carvoeiro, coordinates-N 37º5’24”- W 8º24’45”, You can also sleep in the village N 37º5’41”-W 8º28’12”.
In Playa Marihna, it parks and there are benches with tables to sit and eat, there is no water or drains. You have to go down to the beach to observe the breathtaking views. There are restaurants about a kilometer and a half away. ALGARVE
Third stage.-
Direction to Sagres, La Mareta Beach, in the practically center of the town, N 37º00’16”- W 8º56’40”, there is a drain to throw away the chemical battery but there is no water. You can also park and spend the night in La Fortaleza, which is worth a visit. To eat Casa Gigi Restaurant and also another one that I do not remember, very close to the parking lot that makes grilled fish at the door. There he falls asleep. ALGARVE
Fourth stage.-
Address Carrapateira Beach, very large parking lots near the immense beach, N 37º10’07”- W 8º54’01”. There is no water or drains. To sleep, although you can right there, we went to the town, N37º11’04” – W8º53’46”, very central, next to the plaza. You can take water when leaving the town in a public laundry, with carafes. Fifth stage.-
We wanted to know Playa Bordeira, very close to Carrapateira. It is a splendid beach where there are plains to park and very good views, N 37º11’34”- W 8º54’09”. Visited the beach we go to Playa Arrifana, before reaching Aljezur, N 37º17’46”- W 8º52’06”, very quiet place with good views To go down to the beach there is a free all-terrain. ALENTEJO
Sixth stage.-
We took the road to Monte Clérigos Beach, we wanted to meet her, and we were surprised, very nice place and very close to Arrifana, N 37º20’14”- W 8º51’16”. You can sleep there and go down to the “town”, there is a restaurant where you can eat, there is no water or drains. We ate and went to Playa Odeceixe, N 37º26’15”- W 8º47’54”, there is a large parking lot and a small urbanization. After visiting it, we left for Zambujeira do Mar, a tourist town with many people. We slept in a street of the village, N 37º31’35”- W 8º47’08”. ALENTEJO
Seventh stage.-
Departure to visit Cabo Sardao, cliffs and entertaining walk. You can park next to the lighthouse and the soccer field, N 37º35’53”- W 8º48’58”. Once the visit is made, we continue on the way to Vila Nova de Milfontes, N 37º43’28”- W 8º47’05”, walk along the beach, we eat and rest.
In front of the other side of the estuary there is also the Fernas beach, you have to enter before reaching Vila Nova de Milfontes. ALENTEJO
Eighth stage.-
In the morning we go to the Market, good fish and seafood, you can do some shopping, and we leave for Porto Covo, Motorhome Area, N 37º51’09”- W 8º47’21”. Arrival and you can take out awning and tables, full area for everything, if it is full you can park around. ALENTEJO
Ninth stage.-
We go towards Playa do Sao Torpes, before reaching Sines, N 37º55’19”- W 8º48’15”, beautiful beach, very close to the thermal power station, with the peculiarity that in one area of the beach the water is hot . The area is full of motor homes, there is no water or drains. In Sines there is municipal camping in the center of the city. ALENTEJO
Tenth stage.-
We left for Portimao, N 37º7’9”- W 8º31’41”, Motorhome area, 2.50 euros per day. You can empty and fill water for 2.00 euros. It is a beautiful town with many things to visit. ALGARVE
Eleventh stage.-
In the morning we go to the beach, very busy, with aerobic in the sand for whoever wants. We go towards Altura, stopping at a supermarket to stock up on Portuguese food, parking N 37º10’18”- W 7º29’53”. Walk and dinner of tapas on the terraces of the restaurants in the area. ALGARVE
Twelfth stage.-
We leave Altura for our destination, with a stop on the route to eat. END
